Houston Jewelry Designer
"Versatility inspires me. I love how one material can do so much. It is adaptable, flexible. Much like how I strive to be in life."
Tiffany Recio, a contemporary metalsmith, and Houston jewelry designer has an interesting story to tell.
Tiffany Recio is the founder, designer, and metal smith for RecioDesigns. Tiffany began by supporting herself at the young age of 17 and worked as a dental lab technician where she was introduced to mold making, soldering, casting, and working with metal. Eventually, she put herself through art school at the University of Houston whilst getting married and starting a family. With the opportunity to stay at home and raise the children she spent the next 10 years creating her diverse collections.
Her collections have been featured in local Houston magazines and in retail stores, namely High Gloss, Space Montrose. Recio Designs was featured on the runway in New York Fashion Week in 2015 alongside Danny Nguyen Couture, a local fashion designer. Currently, Recio Designs is hosting various trunk shows around the United States and participates in art markets.
Her amazing one of a kind meteorite jewelry found in the Space Collection is truly something to gaze upon. She harvests actual meteorites and incorporates them into her fine jewelry collection to create austere heirloom adornments.
One of a kind designs made from plant matter, specifically cactus skeleton, can be found in the Earth Collection. Tiffany decided to take a pear cactus plant from her mother's yard in the hill country and cast the skeleton of the root system into silver. She manipulated it into some interesting textural designs to represent her pride in being born in Texas.
Also, a fervent lover of science and technology, Tiffany's curiosity of computer generated designs, made its way into her palette, as 3D printing presented the ability to further the extensions of design. These virgin and innovative designs are representational of what can be done with the technology of her generation and are found in the Intergalactic Collection.
The Dark Side Collection shows another side of her imagination as she explores patinas of blackened sterling silver and combines the look with various color hues and gold.
The Mortal Collection is more of what she considers an everyday ready to wear casual collection mindful of current trends.
In the Engagement and Wedding Collection you will find an eclectic collection of alternative style wedding bands and engagement rings made from a variety of materials ranging from meteorites to dinosaur bone to deer antler.
